The Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc. (AACCUP, Inc.) officially began today, September 21, 2026, with an online opening conference for the First and Second Survey Visits to NEUST.
The programs subjected to the First Survey Visit are the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management at Sumacab Campus; and the Bachelor of Science in Biology, Bachelor of Science in Food Technology, and Bachelor of Science in Psychology at General Tinio Street Campus.
Meanwhile, the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Marketing Management programs at Carranglan Off-Campus and Fort Magsaysay Campus, as well as the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology program with specializations in Database Application Programming and Web Application Programming at Peñaranda Off-Campus, will undergo the Second Survey Visit.
Members of the academic programs’ accreditation task forces, the NEUST Administrative Council, and AACCUP accreditors attended the opening program.
In her message, NEUST Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training Dr. Jean Guillasper emphasized that the accreditation reflects the University’s collective pursuit of quality education and excellence.
“Alam natin na this accreditation is also a reflection of our collective pursuit of quality education and excellence,” she said.
NEUST President Dr. Rhodora Jugo acknowledged the dedication of the faculty members, staff, and stakeholders who contributed to the University’s preparations for the accreditation.
“As we open our doors to the accrediting team, we offer transparency, energy, and collaboration. Handog namin ang malinaw na ebidensya ng kalidad, mapanuring kurikulum, makabagong pagtuturo, makabuluhang pananaliksik at extension programs na tunay na nagbubunga ng pagbabago,” Dr. Jugo said.
Dr. Isidro Duran, AACCUP Overall Coordinator for Cluster 2, presented the objectives and purpose of the survey visit. He also expressed hope that the engagement would further strengthen the University’s quality assurance efforts.
“May our engagement contribute to strengthening the University’s quality assurance culture and its continuing commitment to excellence in higher education,” Dr. Duran said.
Cluster 2 comprises the programs under survey at the Sumacab Campus, Carranglan Off-Campus, Peñaranda Off-Campus, and Fort Magsaysay Campus, while the programs under Cluster 1 are being evaluated under the coordination of Dr. Liza Lanuza-Quimson.
The formal opening of the accreditation was facilitated by NEUST Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Feliciana Jacoba, who expressed confidence in the University’s readiness for the survey visit.
“I am confident that we have complied with all the requirements for this accreditation visit; we are very much ready to answer queries. Let us look forward to the best that this five-day affair has in store for us,” Dr. Jacoba said.
The programs will be evaluated across the 10 areas of accreditation, including curriculum and instruction, laboratories, community involvement, and administration.
The survey visits will conclude on September 25, 2026.
