The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) conducted a seminar on the Legal and Ethical Boundaries of Inappropriate Conduct in the Academic Workplace on September 30, 2026, at the Mini Convention Center, Sumacab Campus, as part of the University’s observance of the 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA).
Spearheaded by the NEUST College of Medicine in coordination with the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) and the Faculty and Staff Union (FSU), the seminar was attended by faculty and staff from various departments, offices, and campuses.
Serving as a guest speaker, Atty. Dr. Antonio Alejandro Rebosa discussed the legal and ethical considerations surrounding inappropriate conduct in the academic workplace, providing participants with guidance on professional responsibilities and standards of conduct.
The discussion was followed by a question-and-answer forum, where participants raised concerns and sought clarification on matters related to workplace conduct and professional responsibilities.
In her message, Vice President for Academic Affairs Engr. Feliciana Jacoba emphasized the responsibility of faculty members to uphold the dignity of the profession and the University in carrying out their roles.
“Ang mga guro po ang sinasabi nating bayani ng ating Pamantasan. Nasa inyo pa ang inyong mga puso, nakadikit sa inyong dibdib na siyang sentro ng ating paglilingkod. At naniniwala po ang bawat isa, dala-dala ang dangal ng pamilya at ang dangal ng Pamantasan para sa ating mga mag-aaral. So together, let us continue to commit to bringing excellent service to our clientele, upholding the highest level of professionalism and integrity in the public service as we build our students.”
Closing the activity, Associate Dean of the College of Medicine Dr. Margarita Belinda Gamilla encouraged participants to translate the lessons from the seminar into their professional practice.
“I hope we will not leave this room simply with information, but with a renewed commitment to practice what we have learned. Let us uphold integrity, let us respect boundaries, let us speak and act with professionalism, let us help build an academic community where every person feels safe, respected, valued, and heard.”
The seminar provided an avenue for participants to examine their responsibilities in maintaining professional standards and accountability in the workplace and in the delivery of public service.
As part of the 126th PCSA, the activity reinforced the responsibility of NEUST personnel to observe professional and ethical standards in performing their respective duties and serving the University community.
