The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) College of Management and Business Technology (CMBT) held its three-day Students and Parents Assembly from September 30 to October 2, 2026, at the NEUST Sumacab Campus.
The program aimed to strengthen communication, cooperation, and shared responsibility among students, parents, faculty members, and the University by providing parents with a deeper understanding of their childrenโs academic journey, support services, career preparation, and opportunities at NEUST.
The assembly brought together senior students from the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA), Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM), and Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM), along with their parents.
In her message, Dr. Feliciana Jacoba, Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), emphasized the importance of collaboration between parents and the University in supporting students throughout their academic journey, saying, โKayo ang kapartner, kayo ang aming partner, ang aming katuwang sa paghubog sa inyong mga anak para sa mas lalo pang magandang kinabukasang minimithi ng bawat isa.โ
The VPAA also encouraged parents to remain open and understanding of their childrenโs experiences, noting that students face various academic and personal concerns and need a supportive environment where they can communicate their challenges.
Dr. Jacoba further underscored that NEUST considers itself a second home for its students, with faculty members, deans, guidance personnel, and University officials ready to listen, provide guidance, and help address concerns that may affect their academic journey.
Meanwhile, Dr. Sarah C. Alvarez, Dean of CMBT, expressed her appreciation to the parents who made time to attend the assembly and emphasized their important role in preparing students for their upcoming On-the-Job Training (OJT), particularly by providing not only financial but also emotional support, stressing, โHindi lamang po financial support ang kailangan, kailangan din po ito ng emotional support.โ
Dr. Alvarez also emphasized that the activity was organized to prepare students before their deployment to different host training establishments and industries, while giving parents an opportunity to understand the OJT process and discuss expectations with their children.
The program featured discussions on On-the-Job Training Insights and Reminders by Mr. Randy Baรฑez, Director of the OJT and Placement Office, followed by International Cultural Exchange Procedures and Opportunities by Dr. Dean Alec De Leon, CMBT Focal Person for International Affairs.
The participants also attended a discussion on Mental Health Awareness and Parent Support led by Mr. Vincent Jan Mikhail Esteban of the Psychology Department, College of Arts and Sciences, on the first day, while Ms. Ella Margarita Malonzo, Campus Guidance Counselor at NEUST Santo Domingo Campus, discussed the same topic during the second and third days.
Meanwhile, OJT Procedures and List of Host Training Establishments (HTEs) were discussed by Dr. Arjhel Domingo, BSBA/Entrepreneurship OJT Coordinator, on the first day and Dr. Ma. Cecilia Reyes, BSHM/BSTM OJT Coordinator, on the second and third days.
Dr. Vivien Viloria, CMBT Research Chairperson, also discussed the Research, Extension, and Training (RET) Agenda, after which an open forum and question-and-answer session allowed students and parents to raise concerns and clarify matters related to their academic and professional preparation.
In the closing message, the organizing committee emphasized the importance of the assembly in building stronger relationships among students, parents, and the University, stating that โ[the] assembly has reinforced the significance of communication, cooperation, and shared responsibility among our students, parents, and the university.โ
The assembly concluded with a reminder to students that their journey toward success is shared with their families, teachers, and the CMBT community, who remain committed to guiding and supporting them as they prepare for graduation and their future careers.
