The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) University Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (UDRRMC) conducted a special meeting to review and evaluate the Action and Contingency Plan for the Potential Impacts of a Very Strong El Niño 2026 on October 8, 2026, at the President’s Conference Room, NEUST Sumacab Campus.
The meeting focused on strengthening the university’s preparedness and response measures in anticipation of the potential impacts associated with a very strong El Niño.
The council reviewed the El Niño Situation Brief and the Action and Contingency Plan, including their alignment with the NEUST Crisis Management Manual 2026, as well as the activation protocols, alert levels, and command structure.
Discussions also covered necessary operational and policy adjustments to ensure that the university’s response mechanisms remain appropriate, coordinated, and responsive to potential risks associated with El Niño.
The meeting was attended by key NEUST officials, including University President Dr. Rhodora Jugo, Vice President for Administration, Business, and Finance Atty. Bembol Castillo, and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Feliciana Jacoba.
Through the meeting, the NEUST UDRRMC reinforced its commitment to proactive disaster preparedness, coordinated response, and the protection of the university community against potential climate-related hazards.
